Board of Directors

Meeting the community’s needs is our highest priority. CEC Health Care is proud to have as part of their governing board the following outstanding professionals and community members:

Anne Emmerson, EdD, Chairperson

Anne Emmerson serves as the Chairperson of the CEC Health Care. She is retired from her position as Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs at Nassau Community College (NCC). During her tenure at NCC she built a portfolio which included the oversight of college-wide support service departments and the Academic Affairs $118 million budget process. Anne’s present and past community service includes serving on the Board of Directors of Adults and Children with Learning and Developmental Disabilities, Inc. (ACLD) and serving on her local school board. Anne brings to CEC extensive advocacy experience working with local and state entities on behalf of students and under-represented persons. She, her fellow board members, and CEC management strive to provide CEC patients and clients care with a focus on excellence and compassion.

Nick Sciacovelli, Vice Chairperson

Nick Sciacovelli joined the board of directors in 2019 and serves on the Finance and Audit Committee. He joined CEC after retiring from a diverse 39-year career in the financial services industry. His most recent position was Director of Portfolio Risk Management at Genworth Financial, Inc. Nick leverages his analytical and problem-solving background in financial risk management to provide a strong data-driven approach to the CEC team. His interest is in applying corporate techniques that can help CEC maximize its service potential. Nick has degrees from the Adelphi University School of Business and Princeton University’s School of Engineering.

Ronald M. Tauss, Treasurer

Ronald M. Tauss serves as Chairperson of the CEC Finance and Audit Committee. From 2004 until its dissolution in March 2020, Ronald was the driver coordinator and driver for Wantagh FISH, a volunteer medical transportation service for senior citizens. He was a member of the Island Trees UFSD Board of Education from 1981-2004 where he served as a parent advocate and liaison to the Office of Special Education. During his tenure on the Island Trees board, he served various terms as president and vice president. Ronald is retired from Equitable Life where he managed health care applications systems development and project implementation.

Stefania Medvedik RD, RN, CDCES, Secretary

Stefania Medvedik is a Registered Dietitian, Registered Nurse, and Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist. She provides medical nutrition therapy to a diverse clientele, with an emphasis on community outreach and diabetes education, including training patients in various diabetes technologies. Stefania covers three locations of a busy endocrine practice in Long Island and owns Simnutrition, a nutrition counseling and consulting firm based in Smithtown, New York. As part of her advocacy work, Stefania has been a featured speaker at local conferences and enjoys speaking on a range of nutrition topics to groups large and small. Stefania is a member of the American Diabetes Association, Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, the New York State Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, and the Long Island Dietetic Association. Stefania serves on CEC’s Quality Assurance and Compliance Committee.

Iris Rosenthal

Iris Rosenthal joined the CEC Board of Directors in 2017. Iris works part-time at Adults & Children & Learning & Developmental Disabilities, Inc. (ACLD) and provides office housekeeping services. She lives in East Meadow and enjoys interacting with her friends. Iris is a strong advocate for people who receive services at CEC Health Care. Some of her favorite pastimes include visiting her brother and his family, shopping, spending time at the library, and taking continuing education courses at the local community college.

Robin Barbara Salsberg

Robin Barbara Salsberg chairs CEC’s Human Resources (HR) Committee. Robin is the Director of People and Culture for the New York Spine Institute. She is an experienced human resources practitioner specializing in corporate-wide employee engagement initiatives that include Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, Training, Professional Development and Community Outreach. As the Chief Human Resources Officer of HealthCare Partners, MSO, this 250+ employee company was recognized by Newsday as the #1 midsize workplace on Long Island. Robin served as the Human Resources Director for the Joint Distribution Committee (JDC), a 1000+ employee global humanitarian rescue and relief organization. She supported the employment needs of a culturally diverse team stationed in 70-locations throughout Africa, Asia, Europe, the Former Soviet Union, Latin America, Israel and the United States. Robin led HR functions at NYU Langone – Long Island Hospital in Mineola where she served in a number of capacities including Director of Employment. During her 17-year tenure, Robin’s responsibilities spanned staffing, onboarding, customer service and management training, coaching, talent acquisition and career development for this acute-care teaching hospital with 4,500+ clinical and administrative staff. Robin has been an active lay leader on business advisory boards of academic institutions and non-profit agencies throughout Long Island.

Ellen Spiegel

Ellen Spiegel serves as Chairperson of the CEC Quality Assurance and Compliance Committee. She serves on the ACLD BOT and was President from 1991-1997. Ellen currently serves on the ACLD Guardianship Committee, the Corporate Compliance Committee, and the Nominating Committee. Ellen retired from her position as a math teacher in the Wantagh School District and from her position as an adjunct professor at Suffolk Community College. Ellen has a son who resides in an ACLD community residence and uses the services of CEC.

Marianne B. Barbera

Marianne B. Barbera joined the CEC Board of Directors in 2019 and serves on the CEC Quality Assurance and Compliance Committee. Marianne recently retired as a mathematics teacher from Valley Stream North Junior/Senior High School. She holds a number of educational licenses and certifications and has extensive teaching, administrative, and professional development experience. To recognize her dedication and commitment to students and the teaching profession, she was the recipient of the Valley Stream PTSA Outstanding Educator Lifetime Award. Marianne is a vigorous advocate for people with Down syndrome, autism, and developmental disabilities. She is deeply involved in the research of early onset Alzheimer’s disease in people with Down syndrome and is on the board of directors of the National Task Group on Intellectual Disabilities and Dementia Practices. Marianne’s sister was a patient of CEC throughout her lifetime.

Mary Quinn, RN, BSN

Mary Quinn joined the CEC Board of Directors in the Spring of 2022.  Mrs. Quinn is a retired, Registered Nurse and health care leader. Mrs. Quinn graduated from Molloy College and enjoyed a 26-year career in Critical care, Cardiac and Research. Mrs. Quinn held a leadership role at a state-of-the-art Cardiac Catheterization Lab and has spent many years providing quality care in Critical Care Management Units.  Other career highlights include her work with Pfizer on the research of cardiac drugs  and with Nassau County’s early intervention program where she ran a support group for parents of children with disabilities.

Shari Prinstein

Shari Prinstein is currently Director of Development at ACDS, Inc., with a track record of success at developing and implementing fundraising and public relation programs to help fuel agency missions. She has a Master of Arts in Health Administration and brings to CEC Health Care more than twenty years of experience working at health and human service agencies including NYU Langone Health, Community Mainstreaming Associates, Life’s WORC, Tiegerman School/Community Services, and Long Island Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence.
