Honoree Bio – Mayor Pamela D. Panzenbeck

Honoree Bio – City of Glen Cove, Mayor Pamela D. Panzenbeck

It is my honor to serve as Glen Cove’s Mayor. A lifelong Glen Cover, I am a graduate of Glen Cove High School and a proud former student of Landing School. My family has a rich history here, and several of them set a great example for me as a child in terms of service to the community that has given us so much. If you know me, you know that I truly love meeting new people and helping wherever I can.

I have always enjoyed serving the citizens of Glen Cove. Before being elected Mayor, I served three successful terms as a member of the Glen Cove City Council. My responsibilities included serving as the Liaison to the Glen Cove Youth Board and Senior Center, being a member of the Glen Cove Beautification Commission, the Senior Advisory Board, and the Glen Cove BID.

Before entering public service, I spent 34 wonderful years teaching business and computer education to secondary-level students in the Levittown Public Schools. Upon retiring in 2008, I decided to expand my volunteer activities and community service. In addition to many philanthropic endeavors, I enjoyed my 10 years as a member of the Glen Cove Hospital Auxiliary. I am also an active parishioner of St. Patrick’s Church and the St. Rocco Feast Ticket Booth Chairperson.

Five or more years ago, I joined the Glen Cove Memorial Day Parade Committee and the Seven-Year Veteran Monument Refurbishment Plan. Recently, I joined the Glen Cove Rotary Club, impressed by their civic-minded generosity and kindness. As the grandparent of a child with Type 1 Diabetes, I was proud to support the Cooking for a Cure fundraising event. I am also a member of the Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians and the St. Rocco Rosary Society. In the past, I have co-chaired twice-yearly blood drives, taught religious education, volunteered at SCO Family of Services, and served as a Cub Scout Leader.

For pleasure, I enjoy playing golf with the Glen Cove 9 Holers, relaxing at Pryibil Beach, and planting vegetables in the Community Garden, of which I am a charter member.

My role as Mayor is wonderful as I have the opportunity to interact with all the City’s departments and agencies in a most positive way. Glen Cove is home to so many wonderful, community-minded people. Their dedication and support make our city a better place every day. This past summer, I was deeply honored to have been named the 2024 City of Glen Cove Police Department National Night “Person of the Year” Honoree, a recognition I hold close to my heart as a testament to the strong partnership and mutual respect between the Mayor’s office and our outstanding Police Department, and the shared commitment we all have to make Glen Cove a safer, stronger community.

I am married to Bob Panzenbeck, and we are blessed with three grown children—Bobby, Billy, and Laura. Best of all, we are the proud grandparents of seven.
